I think my concern is that I tried sharing real life stories of what was being experienced during Covid and his supporters did not care. It was so painful to share the horrors I was seeing and experiencing and they didn’t care.
We won't win over everyone. But we can't be discouraged every time someone isn't moved. If you proceeded that way in real life, getting discouraged every time someone says No, you'd never date, you'd never get your first job, you'd never learn from a mistake. Keep trying. Get better. Get training to help you improve. But keep trying because you will win over someone, and then someone else. This is what it means to organize and it's our only way out of the mess we're in.
Very timely Substack! It's time to start listening and talking to people in the toss-up districts. I heard someone saying the "guardrails" of our Republic are not inanimate rails; they are people like our Representatives. In the toss-up districts people will vote because of what and who they care about.
Amen. Like AOL's line on her tour with Bernie: "I support healthcare for all not because I'm a Marxist but because I was a waitress." "Smash the oligarchy" may be a good goal, but it's not relatable.
Exactly! So well put. Medicaid is an important program, but only because of the people it helps. My heart breaks when I hear stories about people hurting because they are denied help they deserve.

Thanks Dave. I say, "Power to the people who advocate the hardest!"

Beautifully put David…the power that words of love convey are necessary to overcome the words of hate
